How to upgrade CentOS 7 kernel to 4.10 +

Install the EPEL GPG key to enable the EPEL repository:
rpm --import https://www.elrepo.org/RPM-GPG-KEY-elrepo.org

Install the ELrepo RPM
rpm -Uvh http://www.elrepo.org/elrepo-release-7.0-2.el7.elrepo.noarch.rpm

Install the new upgraded kernel:
yum --enablerepo=elrepo-kernel -y install kernel-ml

Change the GRUB_DEFAULT to 0 of /etc/default/grub:
GRUB_TIMEOUT=5
GRUB_DEFAULT=0
GRUB_DISABLE_SUBMENU=true
GRUB_TERMINAL_OUTPUT="console"
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX="crashkernel=auto rhgb quiet"
GRUB_DISABLE_RECOVERY="true"

Apply this command line:
grub2-mkconfig -o /boot/grub2/grub.cfg

Optionnaly you can remove the old kernel:
rm -fr /boot/*3.1*

Reboot the server:
reboot
